Florence has been a favourable arena for Barcelona in past fixtures
The final matchday of the International Champions Cup takes Barcelona to Florence this Sunday, a city where the Catalan club have good sporting memories. In the Tuscan capital, Barça have played eight games (seven against Fiorentina) winning all of their encounters but for two draws and a loss.
The relationship between Barcelona and Fiorentina started in October 1964, with the last encounter coming in July 2008. They drew their first official game in the Copa de Ferias, ending with a friendly. This Sunday, seven years later, their history is opened once again.
07.10.1964 Fiorentina 0-2 Barcelona
The return leg of the knockout rounds of the Copa de Ferias 1964-65. Barça had lost 1-0 at Camp Nou and needed to win 2-0 in order to progress into the next round. They did it, thanks to a brace from Juan Seminario, an ex-Viola player.
25.05.1969 Fiorentina 0-2 Barcelona
A friendly game in front of 46,000 spectators. Salvador Artigas' side defeated them with two goals coming from Josep Maria Fuste in the second half.

Johan Cruyff's Barcelona, together with Fiorentina and Vicenza, played in a Cecchi Gori Memorial tournament. The first game was against La Viola, who won courtesy of goals from Amoruso and Orlando. Afterwards, Barça played Vicenza and won 2-1 thanks to a Kodro brace.
24.04.1997 Fiorentina 0-2 Barcelona
The return leg of the European Super Cup semi final. Sir Bobby Robson's side, after drawing 1-1 in the opening leg, needed a good result to reach the final. They won 2-0 with goals from Couto and Guardiola, both in the first half. They won the final of the tournament in Rotterdam, beating PSG 1-0.
02.11.1999 Fiorentina 3-3 Barcelona
A game played on the last matchday of the Champions League group stage. The Catalan team went through thanks to Figo and Rivaldo, as those before them such as Seminario, Fuste and Kodro had.
31.07.2008 Fiorentina 1-3 Barcelona
A friendly match in the Artemio Franchi memorial game. Pep Guardiola's side won, courtesy of goals from Puyol, Jeffren and Bojan, before a tour to the United States which visited Chicago and New York.
