The Barça striker represented Spain in a qualifier in 2014

This month he wasn't even included in the U21 squad, though

Munir El Haddadi has been given the green light to switch allegiance from Spain to Morocco in international football, despite having represented LA Roja in a competitive game.

According to a source at FIFA, Le Matin reveal that world football's governing body made the decision on June 7, but Morocco have only just found out they have been successful.

Following Le Matin's initial report, various media in Morocco have verified the news and congratulated Munir for switching from Spain.

Munir was born and raised newar Madrid but in a Moroccan family and will now be able to play the country's World Cup qualifier on Sept. 1 against Mali in Marrakech.

The Barcelona forward played for Spain at U19 and U21 level and made his debut for the senior side in a qualifier for Euro 2016 under Vicente del Bosque against Macedonia on Sept. 8, 2014.

He came on as a substitute for 12 minutes in place of Atletico's Koke and the intention of Del Bosque and the RFEF was to guarantee that the striker's future would be with Spain, not Morocco.

Munir spent the last season on loan at Valencia, but Los Che have decided not to take up their option to re-sign him for 12 million euros and he has returned to Barça, who are looking to sell him this summer, with Ajax and Zenit interested.

The young forward was not even included in Albert Celades' Spain squad for this month's U21 European Championships in Poland.
