Exclusive: Munir waiting to see if Tottenham interest materialises

Munir is beginning to realise that his immediate future is away from Barcelona. The forward must make a decision soon on what comes next as he is aware Barça will sign a fourth forward, which will leave him without minutes once Neymar returns from the Olympic Games. He has several offers on the table but he’s waiting for Tottenham. The English club are seriously monitoring the youngster and a move to the Premier League could be one of the final surprises of the transfer market.

Barça would like Munir to be involved in any potential deal for Valencia striker Paco Alcacer, but they’ve left it up to him to decide his own future. The idea is for a transfer with a buyback option, and he would leave for 15 million euros. There are a number of Spanish clubs that may pay that. Real Sociedad would prefer a loan, but that’s seemingly been ruled out. Spurs, meanwhile, are still on the lookout for a young forward and Munir could prove the best option on the market. They would like someone who can play wide or through the middle occasionally. There’s not been any big moves made by them yet, but this week could see forward steps being taken.

Mauricio Pochettino has good reports on Munir and it’s not uncommon for Spurs to follow Barcelona games. The Argentine has reports dating back to Munir’s time in the academy, too, as he wants to know everything about the player’s career. The main problem is Spurs do not want a buyback clause included in the deal, something Barça see as non-negotiable. The clubs had problems in the past when talking about Sandro Ramirez. Spurs would pay good money, but the buyback clause could be a deal breaker. There’s also English interest from Everton and Stoke City. The former have done a similar deal with Gerard Deulofeu already and are managed by ex-Blaugrana player Ronald Koeman. In Germany, Schalke have made an offer, although only for a loan deal.
