EXCLUSIVE: Jasper Cillessen tells SPORT he might leave in January if he can't play

The goalkeeper gave Sport an exclusive interview

He believes he is capable of forcing Marc-Andre ter Stegen out of the side

Jasper Cillessen arrived at Barcelona last summer with Claudio Bravo leaving, knowing he would be battling with Marc-Andre ter Stegen for a place in the team. However he insists he did not come to sit on the bench.

"I'm not happy if I don't play. When I arrived I knew that I would have to adapt myself to many new things," he admitted. "Next season without a doubt I will fight to be the No 1 goalkeeper at Barcelona."

The 28 year old believes he can unseat the German stopper. "Of course I feel capable. If I wasn't, Barcelona would't have signed me. They signed me because they think I have the potential necessary to play here, not to be on the bench."

With the World Cup on the horizon, Cillessen said that he would consider leaving in January if he doesn't get playing time. "I have not thought about listening to offers, I'm fine here," he said. "If I play very little, we will see in the winter transfer window, but for the moment I am not thinking about anything. I spoke to Dick Advocaat (Holland coach) and he told me that if I play well he will keep picking me."

The full interview is in today's edition of Sport.
