Exclusive: How Andre Gomes felt after the Camp Nou blasted him

Andre Gomes is going through his worst days since signing for Barcelona last summer from Valencia, as one of the most surprising transfers made by the team, as the Catalans pipped Real Madrid to his signature. 

However the Portuguese star has not only failed to find his own place in the team but is the most questioned player in the squad. What was a suspicion became a reality last Sunday, when Camp Nou gave him a huge whistling when he was substituted. 

Andre Gomes suffered it like a personal drama, he is very hurt emotionally because he found out that a majority of Barcelona fans are against him, without further nuances. The whistles were fierce, but probably unjust because the whole team is going through a bad spell.

His team-mates did not take it well either that Gomes was singled out with such clarity. The heavyweights of the dressing room, led by Luis Enrique and Lionel Messi, have tried to cheer him up, reminding him that playing for Barcelona means sometimes you have to pay this kind of price.

The technical team were not even planning to use him against Leganes but Busquets’ suspension and Iniesta’s physical state obliged Lucho to pick him. And Gomes suffered his worst day in a Barcelona shirt. Despite coming from Valencia and the demanding Mestalla, at 23 years the criticism was too much for him to take.
