Enrique: "Awards should be about players, not creating problems"

More ironic than ever, Luis Enrique gave his opinion on the recent LFP awards ceremony which saw Cristiano Ronaldo named as la Liga's best forward from the previous season.

"How strange that there is controversy in this country," he smiled when asked what he thought about the ceremony.

Barcelona's boss was one of the managers who participated in the voting for the prizes, although he claimed he couldn't remember who he voted for.

He didn't vote for Ronaldo, though, in his capacity as Celta Vigo coach.

However, he added that the awards should focus on the players, rather than generating unnecessary debates.

"It should serve towards praising the best players," he continued.

"Not for generating problems."

Finally, Luis Enrique suggested he was in favour of more transparency in the voting stystem.
