Eight Barcelona players shortlisted for UEFA Team of the Year

Javier Mascherano, Gerard Piqué, Dani Alves, Andrés Iniesta, Ivan Rakitic, Neymar Jr., Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi are the FC Barcelona players that could be part of UEFA's best XI for 2015.

Eight Barcelona players have been shortlisted, but fans will vote online for who is selected in the team. "The nominations have been announced and now it's up to you. Who will be in the team of the year 2015?" UEFA wrote on their website.

Real Madrid have four players - Sergio Ramos, James Rodriguez, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo - while Atletico have two, in Diego Godin and Antoine Griezmann, while Krychowiak and Konoplyanka represent Sevilla. 

Last season only Leo Messi made the team, with Ivan Rakitic and Neymar shortlisted but not reaching the final XI.

Defenders: Godín (Atlético), Piqué (Barcelona), Ramos (Real Madrid), Rodríguez (Wolfsburgo), Thiago Silva (PSG), Chiellini (Juventus), Alaba (Bayern), Mascherano (Barça), Bonucci (Juventus), Boateng (Bayern), David Luiz (PSG), Alves (Barcelona).

Midfielders: Marchisio (Juventus), Vidal (Bayern), Verratti (PSG), Konoplyanka (Sevilla), James (Real Madrid), Pogba (Juventus), Çalhanoglu (Leverkusen), Iniesta (Barcelona), Krychowiak (Sevilla), De Bruyne (Manchester City), Rakitic (Barcelona), Hazard (Chelsea).

Strikers: Luis Suárez (Barcelona), Álexis Sánchez (Arsenal), Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid), 'Kun' Agüero (Manchester City), Bale (Real Madrid), Müller (Bayern), Messi (Barcelona), Ibrahimovic (PSG), Lewandowski (Bayern), Neymar (Barça), Griezmann (Atlético), Morata (Juventus).
