Edgardo Bauza: I'm not here to convince Lionel Messi to return

New Argentina coach Edgardo Bauza said on Tuesday, when he arrived in Barcelona to meet with Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano, that he had not arrived to convince the No 10 to return to the national team, "but tell me his frustration".

"The sensations are good," said Bauza when he arrived at El Prat. "But I'm not going to convince Messi of anything, but he can tell me his frustration and I can express to him the idea that I have of the national team, so he can feel comfortable, and see if he decides to change his decision that he took after the Copa America final."

Bauza landed in Barcelona with optimism, saying "at some point in the next 48 hours we will meet up," and that will probably be before Barcelona play in the Joan Gamper trophy against Sampadoria.

The first challenge of Bauza, replacing Tata Martino, is to get Messi back onside, before trying to steer them to the Russia 2018 World Cup.
