Douglas the only player Luis Enrique has used less than Aleix Vidal

Luis Enrique’s third season at Barcelona has thus far been characterised by good results and the ostracism of Aleix Vidal. The Puigpelat born footballer is not needed by the coach and has gone five games without entering in the official squad. Only Douglas has been used less by the Asturian coach.

Vidal lost Luis Enrique’s confidence in the third week of the season, when Barcelona lost 2-1 at home against Alaves. From there he has been omitted from the squads against Celtic, Leganes, Atletico Madrid, Sporting Gijon and Borussia Monchengladbach.

In the first season Lucho spent at Barcelona Jordi Masip and Douglas were the players the coach did not want. The keeper went 17 weeks running without being called up, from week 26 to 37. The defender 15, from the quarter-finals of the Champions League to week 37. Masip’s case, obviously, is different as he is a goalkeeper.

In the second season Douglas missed 12 games running and Masip 10.
