Douglas to be presented as a Barça player on Friday

Barcelona have confirmed the signing of right-back Douglas from Brazilian side Sao Paulo for around €4million with a possible €1.5m more in add ons.

The 24-year-old will sign a five-year contract with the club, taking him up to the summer of 2019.

General director Antoni Rossich, director of football Raul Sanllehi and Brazilian representative Andre Cury have been in Brazil since Monday and closed the deal late on Tuesday evening.

The attacking full-back will travel to Barcelona on Thursday night, with a medical due to take place on Friday.

Douglas will then link up with Luis Enrique Martinez's squad immediately, despite initial speculation that he could be loaned back to Sao Paulo - that may have been an option, but with the Brazilian market closing on August 15 it is now impossible.

Luis Enrique now boasts three options to fill the right-back slot in his Barça side: Dani Alves, Martin Montoya and Douglas.

The attacking full-back signed for Sao Paulo in 2012 from Goias and has since made 100 appearances for the Club de la Fe.

PRESENTED ON FRIDAY

Douglas will spend Friday fulfilling various duties with his new club. Throughout the day he will undergo a photo session, take his medical and sign his contract.

He will then appear on the Camp Nou pitch at 17:30h before giving a press conference at 18:00h.
