Douglas could be headed to Sporting Gijon

Barça are close to resolving one of the soap operas of the summer: the exit of Douglas Pereira from the club.

The Brazilian full-back, who is under contract until 2019, looks to be headed on loan to Sporting Gijon.

The Blaugrana are near to reaching a definitive agreement for Douglas to be loaned for a season to the Asturian club, repeating the deal from last year which allowed Sporting to take Alen Halilovic.

Indeed, Barça are prepared to pay all the player's wages, to allow him to find another team and get the playing time which will not be afforded to him by Luis Enrique.

The player's salary, which is in the two million euros range, will be fully assumed by the Catalan club, as Sporting do not have the sufficient economic capability to pay the amount in the defender's contract.

Douglas arrived at the Camp Nou in the summer of 2014, moving from Sao Paulo, but has hardly entered into the plans of Luis Enrique. Barça paid four million euros for the player, along with 1.5 million euros in bonuses.

The excellent relationship between Luis Enrique and Abelardo will allow Douglas to finally find a solution to his sporting career.

The footballer already had an offer from his native country, specifically from Cruzeiro, but he did not want to return to Brazilian football: his priority has always been to continue in Spanish football.
