James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo says that was the upfront cash

The other 36 million was made up in variables based on performances

We're into the final 10 days of the summer transfer window and Barcelona have still not covered the absence nor spent the money which came from Neymar's 222 million euros move.

The club's top target is Philippe Coutinho. The Brazil international has been the subject of three bids but Liverpool have turned each and every one of them down.

Reports suggest the most recent bid turned down was worth 130 million euros. However, the Liverpool Echo's James Pearce says only 82 million pounds (89.5 million euros) was guaranteed.

The other 36 million poinds (39.3 million euros) was made up of performance-related variables, some of which included Barça winning the Champions League and Coutinho winning the Ballon d'Or.

However, Liverpool's dismissal of the bids so far is not thought to be for economical reasons, but because they simply don't want to sell a player who is vital to their Premier League and Champions League hopes under Jurgen Klopp this season.

And, as of August 22, Barça remain without their two top targets, Coutinho and Borussia Dortmund's Ousmane Dembele. So far, they have signed Marlon Santos, Gerard Deulofeu, Nelson Semedo and Paulinho.
