The forward doesn't think he will be back at Barcelona

Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu revealed in an interview with Esports COPE that he doesn't see a future at Camp Nou after joining Watford on loan in January.

Deulofeu, who's currently out injured, was sincere when asked about a return to Barça: "I think it will be very difficult to go back. You don't have to be too clever to know that if Barcelona loaned me to another team it's because they have little interest in me."

The winger wasn't criticising anyone, though, but just looking to be realistic: "I was also in agreement that I had to leave because I hadn't played for a month and a half and things weren't working. I want to play and be happy. I am not happy being on the bench, like most players."

Mea culpa

Deulofeu doesn't blame coach Ernesto Valverde: "A lot it is my fault. At the end of the day, it's me who has to earn the right to play more. I think I was better off the bench than when I had the chance to start games. I know I didn't prove myself. I believe in myself more than anyone, but I recognise I was not consistent."

In direct reference to Valverde, the Catalan attacked explained: "I told the boss when I left on loan 'a lot of this is my fault because you have given me the opportunities I wanted.'"

TOUGH FROM THE ACADEMY

But Deulofeu, one of four players that left Barça in January, also spoke about the difficulties in making the first team after graduating from the academy.

"It's really difficult to be an academy player at Barça and reach the first team," he said. "There are a lot of difficult things from when you arrive as a youngster, through to how demanding it is to player there. I can't explain more."

He's on loan at Watford until June 30 and "at the end of the season I will have to speak with Barça and my agent, but I can't say what will happen because even I don't know.

"Since I arrived at Watford I have been very happy. They have treated me differently. I have been able to play four games and I felt good. The injury was a shame, but I hope to be back soon and to play the final four or five games of the season."
