Lucas Perez awaits the call from Barça

Barcelona's difficulties surrounding the protracted negotiations for Kevin Gameiro and Luciano Vietto has forced the club to seek a new attacking alternative: Lucas Perez.

The Blaugrana have all but given up on Gameiro while the club's sporting director has already given an ultimatum to Vietto as he nears a move to Sevilla.

Perez is waiting for the call from Barça having joined up with the Deportivo La Coruna squad a few weeks ago, but the Galician club's president, Tino Fernandez, says the player's future is not up for negotiation. The Blaugrana, however, could activate Perez's buy-out clause of 20 million euros, an amount that fits nicely within their budget.

"Lucas is a Deportivo La Coruna player," Fernandez told ABC, "For our part, we don't intend this to stop being the case.

"We know how the transfer market can be and if a club meets the 20 million euros buy-out clause he can leave, but no one has contacted us recently [about Perez's availability]."

Barça began talks with the 27-year-old around a month ago. Last season he scored 19 goals and reached 11 assists in all competitions for Los Branquiazuis, but the Blaugrana aren't the only club interested in acquiring the Spaniard.

Sevilla have also negotiated with Deportivo in the event that Gameiro leaves and the Andalusian club fail to replace the Frenchman with Vietto.
