Denis Suarez wants to emulate Iniesta and take Xavi's no.6

Denis Suarez re-joins Barça at 22-years-old and the ideal time to begin a long career at the club.

During his presentation on Wednesday, the Galician made no hesitations as to which Blaugrana player he aspires to emulate: Andres Iniesta. The 32-year-old covers the same position as Suarez and is a player of innate talent that has seen him succeed for both club and country.

"Since childhood I've always noticed Iniesta, he's an example for all young people," Suarez began, "He's very good, but not only as a player but as a person on and off the pitch.

"Up to the first team and during the early years his position [in the Barça team] wasn't indisputable and he's gained that respect, so I'll be learning and training with the best in his [midfield] position.

"I came here to learn how Iniesta plays in a similar or nearly identical position to mine and hopefully in the future I might prove to be as good as he is."

But Iniesta is not the only reference point for Suarez. Xavi Hernandez is also an idol of the former Villarreal player and he admitted: "It's clear that I wish I could take Xavi's no.6 [shirt] - my idol - as Dani Alves is now gone.

"Having that on my back would be special but it's not a priority."
