Definitive: Barcelona will not sign Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool

The saga of the summer has come to an end. SPORT have learned from sources close to the player that Barcelona have given up on Philippe Coutinho and thrown in the towel.
After the Catalan club's latest offer was made to Liverpool late on Thursday (as revealed by SPORT), the club continued their attemtps to sign the Brazil international on Friday but they have been unsuccessful. Liverpool have not changed their stance and have maitained the position they set out from the beginning.
Coutinho's decision to hand in a transfer request and to refuse to play in the club's Premier League and Champions League games to date this season has not had the desired affect.
All of Barcelona's and Coutinho's efforts have meant nothing. Liverpool have not budged and maintain the position they set out on August 10 when they said the midfielder was not for sale at any price.
Therefore, with hours remaining in the transfer window, Barcelona have ruled out making another offer.
