Decision time: Pedro must choose where his future lies

Pedro Rodriguez doubts he will stay at Barcelona because he wants more of a first team role and has spent several days thinking about leaving. His exit has a fixed price of €30million - his release fee clause. The Canary Islander had agreed to continue at the club and told Luis Enrique, but has changed his mind in recent days, with several interesting offers. Liverpool is pushing for the Spain international, but he doesn't know if playing at a club that's not in the Champions League is a good idea.

Pedro joined the squad on Wednesday and trained normally. He has spoken with Luis Enrique and soon has to take a definitive decision. The coach counts on him and will give him minutes, although Pedro knows his role within the squad and that the trident is untouchable. He has to decide whether to continue, to leave, to leave in January - when the club can sign players again - or to stay at Barcelona and keep winning titles.

Pedro's change of heart was motivated by economically interesting offers. Chelsea have spoken to the player to lure him, but they do not want to pay the full €30m and would like to negotiate a lesser price. Liverpool would be willing to stump up the cash though - more than €20m at least - having sold Raheem Sterling to Man City for €70m. Pedro is an attractive proposition for them and hope to convince him to sign.

Negotiations are paused because the player needs to decide for certain if he will stay or go, and it seems nothing will happen until next week. Pedro will wait until after the presidential election to decide - though he will have to go with the squad to the United States.

Chelsea are actually touring the States too - and curiously play Barcelona - while Liverpool will be in Asia for their preparation.

The possible exit of Pedro gives Barcelona a space to fill in January, though the club don't know if this will happen. Barcelona would prioritise giving opportunities to Munir or Sandro, before signing a new player - unless Luis Enrique opens the door to a new incorporation.

Until then, everything rests in the hands of Pedro. He knows this could be his last opportunity to sign a big contract at another club.
