Day off? Messi turns up to continue his recovery, fixed on Clasico return

Luis Enrique has given his players not involved with their countries three days off over the weekend. That’s the case for Lionel Messi, who is injured and has not travelled with Argentina for their World Cup qualifier against Neymar’s Brazil.

However, the Argentine arrived at the Ciudad Deportivo on Friday morning to continue his recovery process. Messi is fixed on being available for the Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu next weekend - even though for a few weeks now that has seemed impossible.

On Thursday, he was able to do a a little bit of work with the group and little by little he is recovering his rhythm. The forward took part in the rondos and acted as the wildcard in the mini-games, although not in an overly competitive manner. His feelings are good and in the coming days he will look to kick on and decide when he will be able to return to the pitch.

The program for the weekend includes slaloms, intensity and rhythm changes, shooting, jumping, changing direction, discontinuous runnings and mechanisms to reproduce the mechanism of his injury - all of this to recover 100 percent and to make sure there is no risk of a relapse.
