David Villa see his Barça exit reflected in Pedro's Chelsea move

David Villa spent three seasons at FC Barcelona (2011-2013) and scored many important goals. The most memorable was his strike in the Champions League final against Manchester United at Wembley.

In the summer of 2013 he decided to sign for Atletico Madrid, though, as he no longer felt indispensable at Barça. He played under Diego Simeone for one year and scored 15 goals, helping Atletico win the league and reach the Champions League final. After that, he signed for New York City.

Asked recently about the recent sale of Pedro, one of his friends at Barça, Villa told ESPN: "He's a player that I have a lot of affection for; a great friend. He's a competitive football who wants to play. [His move to Chelsea] reminded me of when I left two years ago. He realised he was losing minutes and preferred to go to another team."

The former Spain international added that "it would have been bad [for Pedro] to get accustomed to playing from the bench." Villa explained that players need to play and that if they're not they will seek an exit. "It's what Pedro has done. He is a good guy and he wants to show his attitude on the pitch."
