David Villa: Ballon d'Or is between the MSN... and Cristiano Ronaldo
Villa thinks the Barcelona trident are the Ballon d'Or candidates along with Real Madrid hitman Ronaldo
Former Barcelona and current New York City FC striker David Villa thinks the Ballon d'Or will be fought out between Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Messi has won it five times, Ronaldo three, but the latter is the favourite to take it this year.
"I don't know who will win but I'm sure it will be between Leo Messi, Luis Suarez, Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo," said Villa, to Sky Sports.
He added: "I think Messi, Suarez, and Neymar are showing that they can play together. They are the best strikers in the world and they have a good rapport between them. They are definitely the best strike-force out there right now."
Villa, 34, played three seasons with Barcelona before signing for Atletico Madrid and is currently the captain of NYCFC. He has 41 goals in 63 games.
