Dani Alves renewal: What next for Barça duo Martin Montoya and Douglas?

The futures of Douglas and Martin Montoya at Barcelona have become complicated. Dani Alves's new contract at the the club and the signing of Aleix Vidal create a complicated situation for both Douglas and Montoya, two players rarely used by Luis Enrique this season.

Brazilian defender Douglas arrived at the club last summer for four million euros. It was a signing which caused a lot of debate, due to the involvement of the company Traffic, who previously helped bring Henrique and Keirrison to the club.

Douglas has a contract until 2019, but has had very few chances to play, despite Barça insisting it was only a question of giving him time to adapt in Europe.

As for Montoya, who renewed his contract last year until 2018, has not had many minutes, either. He wanted to leave the club in the winter, before continuing in the end, although he still hardly played.

The situation both face next season means they could be set to move in the summer transfer market. Barça would not be able to replace them until January, but with Alves signing a new contract and Vidal on board, it looks like there will be movement.
