Dani Alves ready to continue Barça story

Dani Alves' situation at Barcelona has been a major talking point this summer and, as of today, he is almost certain that he will continue at the club.

The Brazilian arrived at Camp Nou in 2008 - Barça paid Sevilla €29.5 million for him, plus €6m more in variables - and he has, in turn, produced six years of high level performances.

During the last two seasons he hasn't been as impressive... but neither have any of his teammates.

For that reason, Alves wants to see out his contract with the club and then leave next summer, ignoring the interest Paris Saint-Germain showed at the end of last season.

Only one thing could change this: if Barça and Alves received an offer which was too good to turn down.

That would have to be a hefty salary for the player over several seasons, plus a fee in the region of €15m for Barcelona. At the time of writing, that seems unlikely to happen before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

Alves' agents have spoke with various clubs, but none of the terms excite either the 31-year-old or the Blaugrana.

And what does Luis Enrique think about this?

All of the attributes that the Asturian looks for in a player, Alves has. For that reason, Enrique is happy to continue working with him over the course of the next campaign.

With Alves on the pitch, the Barça boss believes that the right flank will be an important part of his system and is confident that he can recover the full-back's best form.

At 31, Alves still has plenty to offer. And Luis Enrique is the perfect motivator, which should see him matain Alves as a key piece in his first project at Barça.

The only thing remaining is for the two to have a conversation, which should happen when the player returns to training. Alves has just returned to Catalunya after spending time on holiday in America with his children.
