Dani Alves can now talk to clubs other than Barcelona about his future

Dani Alves can now freely negotiatate his future with clubs other than Barcelona.

The Brazilian full-back, whose contract expires in June, became able to talk about contracts with possible admirers for the next season on January 1st.

It comes after the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld FIFA's transfer ban on Barça, leaving the club with a problem on the right side of defence.

After Alves, Luis Enrique has Martin Montoya, who wants to leave the club, and Douglas, who's not yet proved himself, to come into the side.

With that in mind, the Catalan club may yet decide to offer Alves a new deal.

At 31, it appears as if Alves will have to decide whether he wants to stay at Camp Nou for another year or, perhaps, he will choose to take on a new adventure away from la Liga.

Now, Alves has the upper hand.
