Max Verstappen had an unexpected visitor at the Barcelona Circuit on Wednesday, where the second week of testing is underway as Formula 1 looks ahead to the new season.

The Dutch driver, who is team-mates with Spanish driver Carlos Sainz in the Toro Rosso team, was visited in the team’s box by Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff.

Verstappen, still just 18, was one of the stars of the past Formula 1 season.

He was photographed with his compatriot Cruyff in the paddock, just behind the boxes, and uploaded a photo onto his social media accounts with the caption:

“Great to meet sports legend @JohanCruyff here in #Barcelona.”

Cruyff, 68, announced in October that he had lung cancer and he is currently receiving treatment and undergoing chemotherapy to beat the disease.
