Cristian Tello: "Fabregas left Barça through the back door"

Cristian Tello's Barcelona career stalled after he broke into the team in 2012 under Pep Guardiola and this summer Luis Enrique decided he could leave for Porto on loan.

In Portugal he is playing under former Spain U21 boss Julen Lopetegui, where he is enjoying more regular minutes.

He gave an interview to the news agency EFE this week; here are the highlights of what he had to say:

On Guardiola: "He's one of the best managers when it comes to tactics, he works on that area a lot. He's very aware of what needs to be done and how to do it and you fight for him until the end."

Barça's cantera: "They know that practically all the players in the first team squad have come from the cantera and they have to be careful with La Masia because it is giving them the fruit to achieve titles."

So why the need for Neymar, Suarez? "Barça always think of their own, but they also know that they are Barça and each year they have to aspire to win everything and for that you need the best in the world."

On Lionel Messi feud: "It's not a complicated relationship. Leo is really ambitious and always wants to score as many goals as possible and to be the best player in the world."

Is Messi selfish? "[Messi] is not selfish, not angry when he is not a starter... if he sees things not going well it is a subject of ambition."

Cesc Fabregas' exit: "He didn't leave the club as he deserved. He left through the back door. He was a spectacular player, you only have to see the goals and assists from his time at Barça. I suppose he will be hurting because his dream was to triumph at Barcelona."

Return to Barça? "I wanted to play minutes and the best way to get them was to come on loan. I have a contract at Barça until 2018 and the idea is to work hard so that I can return there."
