Confirmed: Dates for Barcelona's pre-season 2017-18
The players will be back in for training from July 12 onwards
Barça will play three ICC games as part of a tour of the U.S.
Barcelona confirmed their pre-season plans on Saturday. As revealed by SPORT already, the Ernesto Valverde era will begin on July 12 at the Ciutat Deportiva Joan Gamper de Sant Joan Despí, when the first set of players are due back -- those who have had no international commitments this summer.
Two days later, on July 14, the players that have represented their countries in June will return to training. Among this group will be the likes of Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta. The first few days will consist of medical tests and light training sessions, followed by double sessions as preparations for the new season kick on.
The players that are taking part in the Confederations Cup (Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Andre Gomes) and the U21 European Champinships (Denis Suarez) will be the last to return. Current plans are that they will join the rest of the first team squad after the tour of the United States -- Barça will travel to New York on July 19 and will return from the States on July 29.
While in the U.S., Barça will play against Juventus (July 22 in New Jersey), Manchester United (July 26 in Washington) and Real Madrid (July 29 in Miami). All games are part of the International Champions Cup, which the Blaugrana are competing in for the third consecutive season.
Dates still need to be fixed for the Joan Gamper Trophy match against Chapecoense and the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid, which will be played over two legs.
