Claudio Bravo's relationship with Marc-Andre ter Stegen caused Barcelona departure

Incoming Manchester City signing Claudio Bravo never spoke publicly about his relationship with former Barcelona team-mate Marc-Andre ter Stegen, although the two-time Copa America winner allegedly did not like the German.

Bravo closed his two-year chapter with Barça on Sunday having won a historic second treble during the club's history and helped to bring home a league and Copa del Rey double in his final year.

According to the 33-year-old's close friend, Julio Rodriguez - goalkeeping coach of Colo Colo - Bravo didn't approve of Ter Stegen's comments about being first choice in every competition or visiting the Catalan club's offices in what was seen as an ultimatum to force the Blaugrana's hand.

It was this bad relationship between the pair that Rodriguez believes led to Bravo joining Manchester City," Rodriguez said.

"We must be loyal and respectful and always and support the team-mate that plays alongside you.

"The bad relationship between Bravo and Ter Stegen was another factor that ended bothering Barça and nicknamed me."

Rodgriguez added that he didn't believe that it took long for Pep Guardiola to convince the Chilean to make the move to the Premier League.

"At this point in his career at 33-years-old he decided to succeed on all [domestic and European] fronts - no challenge is too great for them,2 he concluded.

"When Guardiola called he didn't think twice, it's something that goes beyond the money he will receive."
