Cesc Fabregas spent his birthday in Barcelona visiting his friend Lionel Messi

Cesc Fabregas took advantage of his birthday on Monday to return to Barcelona to visit his friend and former teammate Lionel Messi. The Catalan midfielder won the Premier League with Chelsea on Sunday after a win over Crystal Palace, so it's not been a bad 28th birthday.

However, Fabregas' visit may provoke memories among Barça fans of his last trip to see Messi. In February, with Barça on an 11-game unbeaten run, Malaga came to Camp Nou and won. They next day, photos came out of Messi, Cesc and Gerard Pique in a casino.

These images caused controversy and led to criticism of Pique and Messi for going to a casino the day after a loss. Pique later said in a press conference that "a friend came over for London and we had a good time."

As for Fabregas, in his first season with Chelsea he has now won the Premier League and the League Cup. He has attributed the success to Jose Mourinho. "To win the double is credit to the manager, because he is a winner."

He also told Onda Cero that he doesn't regret leaving Barcelona: "I want to win and feel important. I'm really happy here."

Hopefully Cesc's latest visit to see Messi brings luck for Barça's match against Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
