Busquets: Madrid? We're only thinking of Guangzhou

Sergio Busquets did not want to get drawn into comments about Real Madrid’s loss to Villarreal, instead preferring to focus on the Club World Cup, with Barcelona set to face Guangzhou Evergrande in the semi-final on Thursday.

“Madrid? Only Guangzhou exist right now,” the midfielder said with the intention of avoiding goings on in Spain and focusing exclusively on what’s going on in Japan over the next week.

“We’ve come here to win the tournament, you have to think of things in the moment. We can’t think about the past and out draw [with Deportivo] or Real Madrid’s defeat.

“First we have to adapt to the different time, then we have to beat the Chinese champions.

“We are aware how much it’s cost us to get to this tournament, because you have to be the champions of Europe, and we have arrived with lots of motivation to lift the trophy.”

The player, one of the club’s four captains, is one of the voiced in the dressing room and he doesn’t thing underestimating Barça’s Chinese opposition is something which will happen.

“It will be a difficult game. We don’t know much about them, but their manager, Scolari, we do know,” he said.

“And we know that the have a Brazilian presence in their team.”

Finally, Busquets also wanted to show his appreciation for the way Barcelona have been received in Japan.

Hundreds of fans have greeted them wherever they have gone and the Spain international said: “In Japan they always treat us really well and we are really grateful for that.”
