Brazil staff impressed with Barcelona's Rafinha Alcantara

Former Brazil and Barcelona player Edmilson has told Esports Cope that he has been impressed with Rafinha's contribution to the Brazilian national team during the international break.

The Barça midfielder, the brother of Thiago Alcantara, was called up because of injuries and has taken his chance.

"Rafinha has surprised us because he has a well-set head on his shoulders and because of the ease at which he plays," said Edmilson, who is Brazil boss Dunga's assistant.

"He is committed, young and really promising. He will be called up again."

Brazil play the USA early on Wednesday morning (CET) and Edmilson has confirmed that another Barça player, Neymar, will once again be missing from the starting lineup.

"Neymar won't play against the USA," he continued. "Dunga will use the same team [from the Costa Rica game in New Jersey at the weekend]. We have to try things."

The reason Neymar is not been playing is because he is suspended for the first qualifying fixtures for the 2018 World Cup, which is what Brazil are preparing for.

Edmilson explained that the Barça No.11 has come around to the situation.

"Dunga spoke with Neymar. Neymar is always wanting to play, but Dunga has made him see that the team is important," he added.

"Neymar has understood the situation well. It happens with all important players.

"Neymar has importance on and off the pitch, but it is important for the national team that we prepare well for the game against Chile."
