Boca Juniors are possible rivals of Barça for the 2017 Gamper match

Barça and Boca Juniors are negotiating the next edition of the Joan Gamper trophy game.

The changes in the Argentine footballing calendar would permit the side governed by president Daniel Angelici to return to the Camp Nou next season.

The last time the 'xeneize' participated in the contest was August 16, 2008, when the Blaugrana emerged victorious in a last-gasp 2-1 win. Before that edition, Boca had participated seven times in the event since 1967.

The meeting between the presidents of the two clubs has led to the Gamper trophy talks, but this was not the only topic discussed.

The clubs also agreed to organise games in Barcelona and Argentina between their respective teams of legends. Angelici visited the installations of the Catalan club, held a meeting with technical director Robert Fernandez, and had lunch with director Raul Sanllehi.

He also showed interest in learning the details of the inner workings of the technical secretary department and La Masia, as he wants to restructure youth football at the Buenos Aires club.

In the evening, the Argentine director was able to learn about the new hybrid pitch installed at the Camp Nou, a point of interest for him as the Bombonera surface suffered greatly last season.

Angelici is in Europe at the moment having been invited by Karl-Heinz Rummenigge to attend the ECA (European Club Association) assembly.
