The 20-year-old was one of the revelations of the Bundesliga season

Kai Havertz is the new star of German football. The youngster, just 20, has starred for Bayer Leverkusen over the last season and Joachim Low has called him up to the national team on more than one occasion. His season deserved as much: 20 goals and seven assists in 42 games across the Bundesliga, Europa League and DFB-Pokal.

Havertz explained in Bild that he hopees to play with Bayer for at least one more season before making the jump to a bigger club. There's interest. He was linked strongly with Bayern Munich lastt year, but he's open to other clubs. "One day I will have to take the next step. I don't know if that will be Bayern. I don't know if abroad is an option, either. I am confident to play in another team, though," the player says.

Bild says that, as well as Bayern, Liverpool and Barcelona are interested in the young German. Leverkusen have warned he will not go for less than 100 million euros, a number which does not intimidate Havertz: "I handle it well. It's the transfer market, it's not my fault. It doesn't matter to me what's paid, I can't influence that." His contract runs until 2022.
