Bayern Munich are plotting Pep Guardiola's replacement already

Bayern Munich have started working on a future without Pep Guardiola, who, according to various reports in Germany, will not renew his contract with the Bavarian club in the summer of 2016.

English newspaper The Guardian has been the latest to give these details, writing that Bayern's executives have started "casting" to decide who will follow Pep, naming Lucien Favre, the current coach of Borussia Monchengladbach and Thomas Tuchel as two possible replacements for 2016-17.

Tuchel, 41, took charge of Mainz 05 between 2009 and 2014, finishing fifth in the Bundesliga in 2011 and surprisingly quitting after last season. He was a footballer of low profile who played eight games in the second division with Stuttgart Kickers, before joining Ulm in the third division. He's a good strategist and communicator, which makes him favourite in Bayern's plans.

The idea is that next season Tuchel may be able to work with Pep at Bayern to get to know the dressing room and the methods of Guardiola, in advance.

Favre, Swiss, 57, is a very experienced coach who arrived in Germany in 2007 to take charge of Hertha Berlin. In February he went to Borussia Monchengladbach, bottom of the Bundesliga and saved them from relegation.
