Bartomeu tries to comfort Messi after the Copa America final

Josep Maria Bartomeu hasn't been oblivious to what happened in the Copa America 2016 final and was quick to console Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano, who were both runners-up with Argentina against Chile.

The Barça president also paid tribute to the Roja's Claudio Bravo after he won his second title with his country and picked up the Golden Glove accolade for the duration of the tournament.

Messi has since announced his retirement for Argentina and Mascherano is also set to follow his team-mate and friend. It was the third consecutive loss in a major international tournament final for the pair, suffering setbacks against Germany in the 2014 World Cup and Chile - once again - last year in the Copa America.

Bartomeu addressed 'La Pulga' in particular after his announcement in the aftermath of Sunday's game, with the 29-year-old now preparing to focus the remainder of his career on Barça.

His post on his Twitter account read: "Congratulations to Bravo for winning the Copa America. Much encouragement to Messi and Mascherano for your great tournament."
