Bartomeu reassures supporters they can be calm as Barça target signings
"Fans can be calm because we'll have team that will fight for every trophy"
Bartomeu also reiterated his confidence in sporting director Robert Fernandez
Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has said in an interview with BeIN SPORTS that the club's socios and supporters can be calm about how planning is progressing for next season.
"In terms of signings, the Barça fans can be calm because next season we'll have a really competitive team that will fight for every trophy available to them from the first day," Bartomeu said.
The Barça chief also said he was happy with the work the technical team are doing, even though no new signins have been made yet as we head towards July.
He added: "I have a lot of faith in [Sporting director] Robert Fernandez, [coach Ernesto] Valverde, Urbano [Ortega] and everyone who is deciding on the team. It is not easy because we have a really good team, but we have to touch up in certain positions and that's what we're working on."
On the possibility of signing Marco Verratti, Barça's top target this summer, Bartomeu only commented that "he is a PSG player, I only have faith in Robert's work, but no names... I don't even want to know them, they know what we need for next season and are working on it."

Bartomeu also praised new coach Valverde: "He is an intelligent coach that believes a lot in Barcelona's philosophy. He's already began working, but he will begin definitiely on July 10. On top of that, he's someone who looks a lot at [a club's] academy and we're interested in a manager who looks at our academy because there are wonderful players there."
And on Barça B's promotion to Segunda A, he lauded "an important achievement and an objective which we had marked out from the beginning of the season."
