Bartomeu: We have a team that can win all six trophies

Josep Maria Bartomeu has given an interview to BarcaTV in which he showed he is optimistic for the season ahead. "We know it's difficult but we have to try and win it all. We have made a team which can win six cups, it's very competitive. I think that is an objective that we have to reach. I hope we can repeat winning the Champions League, though it's something nobody has done. We have a team capable of doing it," said Bartomeu.

The Barcelona president said the signings of Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal and the arrival of Sandro and Munir to the first team have raised "the competitive tone" of the squad.

Bartomeu explained that Luis Enrique counts on Pedro and Adriano, who had been linked with leaving. "Pedro has renewed his deal recently. Sometimes I read that he plays little, it's true, but he forms part of the club's history. He was here for the first treble and he's here now for the second."

New man

He also spoke about Robert Fernandez's incorporation as the new technical secretary. "In January I thought about getting him, I already knew it. Throughout these years we had relations in a football sense and sometimes I've asked him advice, and he's helped us bring a player to the club. He's an honest person and very calm, who knows the concept of Barcelona's football very well. Lucho has told me the confidence and honesty which Robert generates." Bartomeu also highlighted his experience at Valencia and Atletico Madrid.

UEFA punishments

Bartomeu said, of the fine for the independence flags at the Champions League final: "It's an unfair fine. We have fans who have the right to freedom of expression. We are a democratic club, and I as president, will never go against a socio of Barcelona because they say it would be convenient. I think the expression of feelings, ideas, should be totally free. Barcelona have always been beside the people."

Three challenges

Bartomeu knows his objectives for his presidency. "We want to keep consolidating our sporting excellence. Secondly, the Espai Barca. Now we have started. We want in 2021 to say we have the best stadium in the world. The third, we have to put in the groundwork for the future."

Basketball

"We have a very good basketball team. Xavi Pascual and Creus are making many changes and have my confidence."
