Barcelona's Lionel Messi, Ballon d'Or 2017: real or fake?
A photograph has done the rounds of France Football's potential cover
Messi has won the prize five times and could win it again this year
Barcelona star Lionel Messi and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo are the two favourites to win this year's Ballon d'Or, which is awarded by France Football. Ronaldo, who won FIFA's The Best, starts as the favourite, while Messi, with five Ballon d'Ors, is the second favourite.
The award will be delivered in December. The French magazine will reveal the winner on Dec. 7 at a show which will be presented by former player David Ginola.
With several weeks to go until then, a supposed front cover of France Football has appeared on social media. Some feel it's the cover of France Football, which will go on sale on Dec. 8, while others feel it is a fake.
The cover suggests Messi will win the Ballon d'Or for a sixth time.
