Josep Maria Bartomeu wants more directors and more women involved

As well as new faces, some people will also see their roles changed

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is preparing a number of changes to the club's board. After seeing three resignations in less than a year -- Susana Monje, Carles Vilarrubí and Jordi Monés -- he will have to re-shuffle his staff, although he will wait until after the General Assembly on Oct. 21.

Bartomeu's new project will involve both new faces and new roles for people currently on the board. The president hopes that, with these actions, he will breathe life into his mandate, which began in 2015 and runs until 2021.

Another of his priorities while making the changes is to increase the number of women working at the club, with Maria Teixidor currently the only female representation. The vice secretary of the board has been the only woman since November 2016, when vice president Monje decided to stand down.

Monje gave "personal" reasons for the end of her time with the club. She has still not been replaced as the vice president on the economics side and until now, in reality, CEO Oscar Grau has been looking over that vital department.

MAKE A STATEMENT

Bartomeu has a plan which he hopes will make a staement. Vilarrubi and Mones' resignations have activated alarm within the board and the idea is to come out of the crisis and push forward with big plans, like the Espai Barça.
