Barcelona watching young Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes

Gomes has already captained England at junior level and made U18 debut for United at 14

FC Barcelona are watching Angel Gomes, an attacking midfielder who plays for Manchester United. The 16-year-old has a contract with the Premier League side until 2018, but his performances with his club and the England national team have led to Barça's interest.

Gomes signed for United when he was 13 and has played for various youth teams at the club, including making his debut for the U18s when he was just 14. He scored a hat-trick against Everton in that age group earlier this season, before captaining England U17s in the same week.

Youth team coach and former Manchester United player Nicky Butt confesses that he has great hope for the young midfielder. Here's a demonstration of his quality:

Angel Gomes' father played for Portugal U21s along with Luis Figo and Rui Costa. After the recent transfer ban Barça were given for signing underage players from outside of Spain, they will have to tread with caution if they want to bring the teenager to La Masia.
