Barcelona want to get Neymar's contract renewal on track

During the summer the alarm was sounded for an alleged offer of biblical proportions from Manchester United to take Neymar to Old Trafford. Within the club everybody was calm about the movements around the Brazilian forward. The reasons were twofold. And with a lot of weight. The club wants the striker to remain as one of the pillars of the first team and the striker wants to remain one of the pillars of the first team. There is no easier formula to understand.

There is only a single barrier that the club is not willing to pass because they understand that it would endanger the economic stability of the club. This is the salary cap, which should range between 55 and 70% of total income of the club. From those who manage the club, the percentage that goes to the first team wages amounted to 73%, counting the total salaries, including the other sections of the club (handball, basketball, etc). Without them, it's 66.8%, not counting Pedro's exit to Chelsea.

Robert Fernandez, in that sense, would not comment on the figures: "These are issues that the board should evaluate and see what the top salary is." Beyond the numbers, the athletic director is convinced that the club will reach an agreement with Neymar in the coming weeks: "It's an issue that we will solve soon. We'll talk with the father. We are very calm because everything that the player and his people convey, is that they want a continuation. And we want to continue. We must find a formula so that everyone wins."

Where Robert would not go was the figure that the Brazilian should be charging, and whether this would put him at the second position on the pay scale of the first team of the club. "I will not start on the years and the amounts, or whether he will be the second highest paid because those are issues that the board should evaluate." The reality is that Neymar wants to continue wearing the Barca shirt, which is very welcome by the club, given he's part of one of the greatest attacks in football history. With Messi and Suarez, he formed a unique trident last year and won the treble, and continues to make history.
