The club still thinks the player could have a future at Barça

Las Palmas, Saint-Etienne and Girona are interested in the player

Sergi Samper’s future is up in the air. No one knows who he will play for this season and August flies by quickly for footballers. He has returned from his loan at Granada, where he did have a very good time and now, if Barcelona get their way, he’ll go out on loan again next season.

Barça have informed him that he will not be part of the first team this season and have told him to find a club. The problem is that it’s not just a case of finding a club, there’s also a difference of opinion regarding the form of the move. In the past, the player has turned down very good offers from the Premier League to stay at Camp Nou but now he would prefer a permanent transfer. However, the sporting directors are convinced that the player still has a future at Barça and would prefer a loan.

That’s the issue that Pere Guardiola, his agent, must solve this week when he meets with the club to decide the future of a player who joined the club at the age of 6 and whose aim has always to become a key player at Camp Nou.

There’s no lack of interest in the player. Girona are one club interested, as are Òscar Garcia Junyent’s Saint Etienne. Las Palmas have also shown an interest. However, it first needs to be decided if the player’s move will be permanent or just a loan.
