Barcelona star Jordi Alba will sign new contract with the club until 2020
Catalan left-back Jordi Alba will sign a new contract with Barcelona in the coming days, with the club announcing on Wednesday that an agreement has been reached to extend the player's terms until June 2020.
The 26-year-old, whose contract was due to expire in 2017, will also have his release clause increased to 150 million euros. Barça had been keen to tie down one of the key pieces of their side due to his performances since joining the club in 2012-13.
Previously of Valencia, Jordi Alba joined Barcelona, where he had played in the junior categories, in the summer of 2012.
His speed and sacrifice on the left flank and his ability to link attacks have made him an undisputed starter in the side under three different managers. Since signing for the first team, he has won the league twice, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
