The club say that the Austrian defender is not an option

Barcelona are still looking for a left-back to complete their squad. The budget is dependent on whether or not Neymar comes and will not be larger than 25 million euros in any case. They have three candidates and Bayern Munich's David Alaba is not one of them. They looked at him but ruled him out a few weeks ago with negotiations impossible to open. His contract ends in 2021 - so perhaps next summer he might be an option if he doesn't renew.

SPORT reported on June 15 that Alaba was a traget for Barca but that negotiations were impossible so the club ruled out his signing. Instead they looked at Borussia Dortmund's Raphael Guerreiro, who might head to PSG.

The idea of signing Alaba would have been more realistic if Samuel Umtiti left. Barca want to bring in the left back during the next week or so, so that he's ready for the US tour. Junior Firpo is one of the options but not top of the list.
