Valverde wants the striker who has a 15m euro release fee clause

“Here Valverde rules,” said Eric Abidal regarding the signing of Jeison Murillo and the same words retain their meaning when it comes to the search for a new striker.

The coach wants a forward to bolster Barcelona’s squad and his choice is Cristhian Stuani, the Girona striker.

He wants a player that knows La Liga, which Stuani does, and he has an EU passport despite being Uruguayan, he has shown his quality in front of goal - he’s the third top scorer with 12 goals - and at 32 he would take the role that Valverde wants for him, behind Luis Suarez.

The coach wants him because he’s willing to play in wider positions, like he did at Espanyol.

The striker has a 15 million euro release clause which Girona aren’t willing to back down on.

Stuani was negotiating a new deal with Girona last summer without ever ending up on an agreement.

The player has had offers from China, which he rejected because he wants to stay in Europe. A huge club like Barca would fulfil all his ambitions.

Girona won’t accept any less than 15m so it remains to be seen if Barca will match the clause for their ‘new Larsson’.

Stuani would have compatriot Luis Suarez welcoming him in at the club, to help him integrate.
