Barcelona v PSG: Player ratings from the thrilling clash in Paris

Barcelona went down 3-2 to Paris Saint-Germain at Parcs de Princes on Tuesday night. But who has nothing to be ashamed of and who needs to pull up their socks?

--------------------------------------------------------------

Marc-Andre ter Stegen 4

Could do nothing about the first but came out of goal and flapped at a corner, which Verratti headed in for PSG's second. The third goal went through his legs, which added insult to injury.

Dani Alves 6

Dribbled into trouble early on and as he tried to make amends, gave away a free kick. It resulted in David Luiz's opener. Delivered a nice cross for Neymar's goal though.

Javier Mascherano 6

Lost in a battle of strength against David Luiz, who took advantage and turned home a free-kick to give PSG the lead. Recovered well after that, including one brilliant ball-steal as PSG charged towards the box.

Jeremy Mathieu 6

Reliable, as he has proven himself to be over the past few weeks. When Barcelona lost control of the game, he did the best he could to keep PSG at bay.

Jordi Alba 5

Far from his best, with Lucas Moura giving him the runaround. Inconsistent when he joined the attack.

Sergio Busquets 5

Another player well below his usual level. Unable to cope with Blaise Matuidi and Marco Verratti.

Ivan Rakitic 5

Has been one of the stars of the season so far for Barcelona but wasn't at the races today. Made way for Xavi with 20 minutes to go. Poses an interesting question ahead of the Clasico.

Andres Iniesta 6

Good interplay with Messi for Barca's equaliser, teeing up the Argentine, but drifted in and out of the game. Had a good chance from the edge of the box but missed the target completely.

Pedro 4

Made little headway and looked lightweight, deservedly hooked for Munir El Haddadi after an hour.

Leo Messi 8

At his brilliant best in flashes but was unable to control the game. Came up with a well-taken goal and several other joyous bits of play, including a sublime through-ball for Neymar and an acrobatic effort kept out.

Neymar 7

A quiet first half, but scored in the second half for Barca when the chips were down. It wasn't an easy finish, but he steered it into the far corner from some distance

Subs:

Munir El Haddadi 7

Could have shot but instead teed up Rakitic. Neat cross for Alba but his shot was blocked, before hitting the post himself with a low drive.

Xavi 7

Made his 143rd appearance in the Champions League, an all-time record.
