Barcelona player ratings as they thrash Alaves at Mendizorrotza

Two goals for Luis Suarez, one each for Neymar, Leo Messi and Ivan Rakitic and an Alexis own goal saw Barcelona win big

Marc-Andre ter Stegen 7 - Made a brilliant save from Theo Hernandez to stop Alaves openign the scoring. Had little to do other than that.

Aleix Vidal 8 - Set up Suarez for the first goal and played mainly as a right winger, offering speed in attack. Sadly suffered a brutal injury at the end.

Jeremy Mathieu 6 - Completed his tasks without problems, helped by Alaves not pressing too high. A quiet game.

Samuel Umtiti 6 - Booked in the fifth minute for a foul on Sobrino, but despite that did well and was attent with his marking. Went off in the 65th minute, perhaps carrying a knock.

Lucas Digne 6 - Hammered for pace by Theo on the counter-attack, but was much better in the second half. Denied Katai when it seemed like Alaves would score. Became a central defender in the final minutes.

Sergio Busquets 7 - His invisible work helped Barcelona a lot. He calms the team, in both defensive and attacking ways.

Andre Gomes 6 - Improved throughout, although still needs to take a big jump forward. Has the confidence of the coach.

Ivan Rakitic 7 - Good at intercepting balls and correcting for positional errors made by his team-mates. Pressed with intensity and brought more than in previous games. Needs a morale boost, but he took a step forward and scored the fifth.

Leo Messi 9 - Started the game surrounded by opponents, he seemed uncomfortable, but left the flank for the middle of the pitch where he started plays and got Barcelona going. He scored the third goal and set up the next, put into his own net by Alexis.

Neymar 8 - A little bit individualistic early on but he improved as the minutes passed. Offered himself constantly and was in the right place at the right time to net the second. Calmed down in the second half, resting himself a little.

Luis Suarez 9 - Insatiable, did not stop until he scored, breaking the deadlock. More intuitive than most in the box, the Uruguayan had an intense game and later grabbed his second. His killer instinct never lets him rest.
