Barcelona were held to a goalless draw against Olympiakos on Tuesday, moving them a point closer to qualifying for the Champions League knockout rounds.
PLAYER RATINGS:
Ter Stegen (6) The German had little to do, but did what he had to. Made a save from Fortounis. There was one mix up with Umtiti, which led to a corner.
Semedo (6) Started well and had a good shot early on, drawing a good save. Showed a good understanding with Sergi Roberto, but dipped as the game went on.
J. Mascherano (6) The defender was steady at the back, but not great on the ball. Rushed back from a foot infection and perhaps not 100 percent.
Samuel Umtiti (6) Grew into the game and produced one brilliant tackle in the 15th minute. If he hadn't made it, Elabdellaoui would have been one-on-one with Ter Stegen.
Jordi Alba (6) Worked hard, as ever, but luck did not accompany his forays forward. Did what he had to in defence and connected well with Messi in the second half but lacked accuracy in the final third.
Sergi Roberto (6) Couldn't finish the first half and was removed with a hamstring strain.
S. Busquets (7) Gives order to Barça's play. Aware of his work in defence and key when circulating the ball. His presence is a guarantee. Didn't make a single mistake.
Paulinho (6) Was everywhere but didn't have his usual effectiveness in attack. Was taken off on the hour mark.
Leo Messi (7) Took a while to get into the game, but soon appeared, as always. Couldn't take advantage of the chances he had to score. Denied by the Olympiakos goalkeeper on several occasions.
Luis Suarez (6) The Uruguayan missed a clear chance to open the scoring in the first half, shooting off target. Not having luck in front of goal. Looked short of confidence. In the second half he tried everything, but nothing came off, denied by the bar late on.
Denis Suarez (6) Involved in the first half but lacked something in the final third. Was taken off for Andre Gomes after the break, a through ball for Luis Suarez perhaps the highlight of his night.
SUBSTITUTES
Deulofeu (6) Came on for the injured Roberto. Added pace but not end product.
Ivan Rakitic (6) Added fresh legs in midfield but couldn't add a goal.
Andre Gomes (5) Booked immediately after coming on. Only played for 15 minutes and added little.
El alemán tuvo poquísimo trabajo, pero cuando le exigieron, cumplió. Detuvo un disparo de Fortounis. En alguna jugada se mostró algo impreciso a la hora de sacar el balón y protagonizó un mal entendimiento con Umtiti. El Olympiacos se estiró algo más tras el descanso, pero sin llegar a exigirle demasiado.
El lateral portugués empezó como un tiro y dispuso de la primera gran ocasión. Demostró un buen entendimiento con Sergi Roberto por la banda derecha, pero fue perdiendo protagonismo.
El central argentino estuvo bien atrás, pero con el balón se mostró impreciso cuando se acercó al área del Olympiacos. Fue asentándose y acabó el partido exhibiendo su contundencia habitual.
Le costó unos minutos cogerle el pulso al partido y se mostró impreciso con el balón. Luego se asentó y estuvo providencial al evitar que el Olympiacos se adelantara en el 15', ya que Elabdellaoui se había plantado solo ante Ter Stegen.
Se vació como siempre, pero la suerte no le acompañó en sus internadas por la banda izquierda. Cumplió en defensa. En la segunda mitad se animó y conectó mejor con Messi, pero le faltó precisión en los últimos metros.
El canterano no pudo acabar el primer tiempo por culpa de una lesión en la pierna derecha. Hasta ese momento había hecho un buen partido y cumplido, como siempre.
Dio orden al juego blaugrana. Muy atento en tareas defensivas y seguro a la hora de hacer circular el balón. Su presencia es una garantía. No cometió ni un error. Indiscutible.
Hizo un gran despliegue físico, como de costumbre, pero tuvo menos protagonismo de lo habitual en ataque. Perdió fuelle tras el descanso y dejó el campo en el minuto 62 para ser sustituido por Rakitic.
Tardó un poco en entrar en juego, pero apareció, como siempre. No pudo aprovechar tres buenas oportunidades para marcar. En las dos primeras se topó con el meta del Olympiacos y en la última disparó fuera. También puso en aprietos a Proto en dos faltas directas.
El delantero uruguayo desaprovechó una clara oportunidad para marcar en el primer tiempo. Se plantó solo ante el meta griego, pero disparó fuera. No está teniendo suerte frente al gol. Se nota que le falta confianza. En el segundo tiempo lo intentó todo, pero no le salió casi nada. Acabó enviando un balón al larguero.
Se mostró muy participativo, pero volvió a faltarle precisión en los últimos metros. Le falta algo de confianza para acabar de dar un paso adelante. Fue perdiendo frescura con el paso de los minutos y acabó siendo sustituido por André Gomes.
Salió en los últimos instante para ocupar la plaza de Sergi Roberto. En el segundo tiempo se mostró insistente por la banda derecha, pero no acabó con éxito ninguna de sus jugadas.
El croata dio aire al centro del campo y se desplegó en ataque y en defensa.
Nada más salir vio una tarjeta amarilla. Sólo dispuso de un cuarto de hora y trató de empujar.
