Barcelona player ratings: Dani Alves' afternoon to forget at Levante

Barcelona player ratings: Dani Alves' afternoon to forget at Levante

CLAUDIO BRAVO (6): Had little to do and a little luck: Levante's best chance hit the post. In his first real save, he wasn't overly troubled by a Rossi shot.

DANI ALVES (3): A poor performance from the Brazilian: Let down by his passing and switched off in defence. His flank was a way in for the rival players. He allowed Levante to believe and he added little in attack. He was also booked and was taken off in the second half.

PIQUE (6): Kept his concentration despite a distracted performance from Barça. He didn't make any big errors and kept his position, although Barça did lack his usual ability to carry the ball out from the back.

MASCHERANO (6): A solid performance from the Argentine. He covered well for his team-mates when they lost their position. He had some difficult moments as Levante attacked, but he remained focused.

JORDI ALBA (5): His first attack down the left led to the opening goal (Navarro's own goal), but he didn't add much more in attack. He suffered more than expected in defence under pressure from Deyverson and Lerma.

SERGI ROBERTO (6): The surprise inclusion in the side, taking Sergio Busquets' place in midfield. He struggled to contain Levante's pressing through the middle. Moved further forward when Busquets came on, but didn't stand out.

INIESTA (6): Began the game well, shooting just over and creating Messi's first offside goal, but he fell into the general rhyhtm of Barça's game. The captain only really reappeared in the final stretch of the game as Barça tried to maintain possession.

RAKITIC (6): A quiet game from the Croatian. Even though he came close to scoring with a header from a corner, he rarely featured in attack and wasn't able to take control in midfield.

MESSI (6): The referee ruled out two goals for offside (the first was onside) and the Argentine seemed frustrated by the decisions made by the officials throughout the game. He was always surrounded by rival players and lacked the spark to get out of some tough situations. However, at the end, he was vital in setting up Suarez's goal.

LUIS SUAREZ (6): Could have scored the second goal in the first half, but missed an easy chance at the near post. He did eventually score, though, at the very end of the game when he was one-on-one with Mariño. Even when he's not at his best, the Uruguayan is usually on target.

NEYMAR (7): He was responsible for Barça's most imaginative moments. Levante could only stop him by fouling him. He was more individualistic than normal, but he was Barça's freshest and most creative player at the Ciutat de Valencia.

SUBS:

SERGIO BUSQUETS (5): Came on for Rakitic to help Barça over the line.

ALEIX VIDAL (5): Replaced Dani Alves as Barça struggled on their right side.
