Barcelona have virtually no money to spend in January window

Barcelona's technical staff are still looking for the best option to achieve success this season with the incorporation of an attacking player in the winter window. There's no clear urgency, but the recommentation that has been given to the board is this and they are working to sign a special player. The board is not opposed to the idea and will study the options, but the budget is nearly nothing. There will be no extravagance until June.

Technical secretary Robert Fernandez and his associate Urbano Ortega have met this week with various agents who have brought various interesting players to their list. In some cases Barcelona have asked for more information and others have been discarded for now. The most important thing is Barcelona cannot spend a lot of money. That might mean that a loan is the better bet with the obligation of buying permanently afterwards. Or the option of deferring the payment. The reality is that, with these conditions, it's very complicated to find footballers.

There's no deadline to take a decision and no name has been reached upon during the international break. Robert has maintained contact with Luis Enrique to speak about various options, but no definite decision ahs been taken. They are waiting to see if any operation could cost little or if a new name comes in at the last minute. There's time until January 4 and they may not sign anyone at all, barring a new serious injury.
