And that's when opposition defences start to struggle. When this happens, the goals seem inevitable. Any way to stop them is good. And when the goalkeeper is beaten and the ball seems ready to sink into the back of the net, there is the woodwork.

Luck hasn't gone Barcelona's way on that front this season. Accordingto OptaJose stats on Twitter, with the move that saw them hit the woodwork twice in a matter of moments against Sevilla, they have now struck it on 21 occasions this season, seven times more than any other side.
